Arbor
Day 2002Fifth grade students
from Lincoln,
Kennedy and VanBuren Schools, eighth grade students from St. Mary
School,
and home-school students affiliated with the Rock Valley Home School
Association,
participated in an Arbor Day "My Favorite Tree" essay-writing campaign
organized
by JSTAC. JSTAC donated a shade tree to each participating school
and
organization. Volunteers from JSTAC worked with students to plant
each
of the trees. Since students in the Rock Valley Home School
Association
do not share a central school facility, the tree donated to those
students
was planted adjacent to the combined Janesville City bicycle trail and
Ice Age Trail near Kennedy School where the students and their families
may visit it as it
grows.
