Arbor Day 2005: JSTAC chair Mary Ann Kroehn-Buenzow addressed a gathering of Janesville residents, City Council members, and JSTAC volunteers to celebrate Janesville's designation as a Tree City USA, a status conferred by the National Arbor Day Foundation in recognition of work done to promote the welfare of Janesville's urban forest and to provide educational opportunities for Janesville's citizens.  She outlined the effort that had gone into qualifying for the award, and JSTAC's future plans to continue its work. Center: Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources South Central Region Urban Forester Jeff Roe presented the official Tree City USA plaque to JSTAC and the City of Janesville on behalf of the DNR and the National Arbor Day Foundation.  Right: Boy Scouts from Troop 516 Good Shepherd Church, served as a color guard for the special event.

On March 9, 2006 the Wisconsin Tree City USA 2005 Banquet was held at Monona Terrace in Madison.  Scott Hassett, Secretary of the WisconsinDepartment of Natural Resources (left), presented Janesville's Tree City USA Award to (from L to R) Charles Mortenson, Janesville Parks Director Tom Presney, JSTAC Secretary Cliff Englert and JSTAC Chairperson Mary Ann Buenzow.
