IN HONOR OF AN OLD FRIEND

Ray
Ray Luy

First JSTAC chair and a longtime supporter of the organization's mission, Ray left Janesville behind a few years ago.

ArborFest 2007 Ray was an unexpected and very welcome guest. We were saddened to learn just weeks later that Ray had died in his sleep.  Those of us who were fortunate enough to work with  Ray understood  the depth of his commitment to forestry, and particularly the urban forest.  The world will be a poorer place without Ray.

At left Ray is shown the day of the Lincoln Tallman Museum Witness Tree lightning protection project.

Ray was working with the Illinois Dept. of Ag. at the time of his death.  The department honored him in a recent publication.  See the article on page 4.

He will be missed.
