2001 Marshall Middle School

JSTAC volunteers and Marshall Middle School students worked together to  plant arborvitae seedlings inside and outside the fence between the school and Interstate 90 as a sound and vision barrier, Arbor Day project, 2001.  JSTAC donated the seedlings and the mulch for this project.

Student volunteers planted one row of seedlings inside the fence that separates Interstate 90 from the school grounds.  JSTAC volunteers planted a double row of seedlings outside the fence in the grassy area of the I-90 corridor using a planting machine donated by the Janesville Service Center of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Marshall students and JSTAC volunteers worked together to complete the project.

Columnar arborvitae grow medium fast to a height of about 15 feet with a spread of between five and 10 feet.  These trees will provide an attractive and effective screen against traffic noise and visual distraction from the highway.
