ArborFest 2005
First ArborFest small, but promising

Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 J-STAC hosted the first offical ArborFest near the south pavilion in  Riverside Park.  The event, held to celebrate Janesville's urban forest, drew a small crowd of hardy guests and despite a persistent drizzle the visitors, vendors, exhibitors, and artisans enjoyed the fall colors and crisp weather.  Guests joined in contests, viewed exhibits, and followed maps for self-guided tree hikes.  The air was perfumed with the aroma of good food from the Deli Dog House booth in the pavilion.  J-STAC wants to thank everyone who paticipated in this event.  We are looking forward to seeing all of you next year when we will offer more vendors, more exhibits, and more fun!

The Best of ArborFest 2006
ArborFest 2006 was held at Palmer Park.  It was a cold blustery day, but those who attended enjoyed the vendors, the food, the music, and the educational seminars.  Kathy Kensome, our beloved grant committee chairperson, (top right picture) held up her end by keeping watch over the JSTAC booth.  This was Cathy's last participation in a JSTAC event.  She passed away on Jan. 26, 2007 after a long battle with cancer.  She will be sorely missed.
